Audiobahn
Audiobahn is a brand name for car audio systems that’s geared towards the mid range mainstream. If anything, one of their best endeavors would be to go cheap. That’s how some detractors of the brand would say that their engineering and concept design is weak compared to other high end brand names. Audiobahn subwoofer’s intent is plain and simple: to become the cheap Audiobahn subwoofers so that average income earning individuals and frugal shoppers can enjoy such pleasures. But that is of course without sacrificing quality and performance.
First tackle for Audiobahn subwoofers is to use cheap alternatives for mainstream materials. Kevlar is very expensive, to have it on a subwoofer will change price drastically. But some people seem to think that Kevlar is the ultimate, no it isn’t. Materials have its own strengths and weaknesses, Kevlar notwithstanding. It may be very durable, resisting tears on rougher plays, but then it costs as much as 10x the price of Audiobahn subwoofers – which uses paper material. Then again, no one would doubt that Kevlar is stronger than paper but let’s get real, subwoofers do have enclosures yes? Not only these enclosures are there to provide better acoustics, they also protect the subwoofer’s working details from foreign elements. So there goes the trade-off, a stronger material which would undoubtedly last the decade (but whose durability won’t be put much to test as far as anyone can tell) or a weaker, yet economically wise venture such as paper material for Audiobahn?
You see, it’s not the amount of elite pride that you choose to dress your ride with good acoustics, but instead it’s that want for a better sound that you choose to equip it. My reason for choosing Audiobahn is not for pretentiousness. Unless you are in car shows and SPL competitions, I would always suggest first Audiobahn than other audio systems of its category.
Let’s take as case study the High Excursion Series Audiobahn Subwoofers. This subwoofer series features high gloss cone that’s made of extra durable carbon composite with laminated pulp reinforcement. Thus, even if it’s of paper material, this cone is much sturdier than standard paper cones, tolerating for more hard line procedures. These series’ boast is its high excursion capacity, allowed by the tall and narrow foam surround. More air displacement is achievable by the High Excursion Series Audiobahn Subwoofers. Meaning, it can get into those extreme lows on par with the top class (and ultimately several times more expensive) brand names. The High Excursion Series Audiobahn car subwoofers are loud, very loud, mind you. Built like a tank, they should be. And they cost generally less than tanks, only at $100. For that price, and you can get a boom box that can rattle window panes 3 blocks away, it’s the best value subwoofer yet.
With a stronger inclination to releasing high tech cheap products, Audiobahn do release products intended for high end market. This is their Immortal Series Audiobahn Subwoofers. Design to meet the requirements of a competitive environment, the Audiobahn Immortal Series features a quad 2 ohm voice coils that can handle high power, even up to 2250 watts of continuous power. 200 oz. triple-stacked Strontium magnets and proprietary tall excursion foam surrounds are exclusive feature specs for Audiobahn subwoofer Immortal Series. Another surprising feature is the lightweight 2 layered Kevlar carbon fiber laminated cone, with an aluminum dustcap. This is testament of how Audiobahn can get into the strict audio business, a subwoofer that owns hard. And the best of all, its only $300, $100 less than other subwoofer brands in the same category.
Its time to put the disruptive rumors to rest; you should go and test an Audiobahn subwoofer’s capacity in relevance to its price. You’d be surprise at what you will discover.
