Amplifier Features

Car amplifiers provide a neat power source that can run the speakers with no straining. The music will have a more defined and clearer sound at any volume level when using amplifiers. High-powered car amplifiers will increase the amplitude of the deck’s signal to more than fifty volts. It can also convert low-power signal from pre-amplifiers into high-power signals required to run loudspeakers.

There are several key amplifier features for car amplifiers. These car amplifier features will determine the performance and sound quality of the amplifier:

Built-in Crossovers

These amplifier features are often employed to keep “high-frequencies” from reaching subwoofers. Low-pass crossovers only permit “low-frequencies” for amplification; while high-pass crossover only allow “high-frequencies” to be amplified. It prevents low-bass away from little speakers, so they play more powerfully.

Bridged Power

“Bridging” car amplifiers combines power outputs of two channels into a single channel. Bridging also allows car amplifiers to run a single speaker with added power than the amplifier may generate for two speakers. Due to this “high-power” output, “bridging” is the most excellent way to run one subwoofer.

Discrete Output Devices

There are generally two to three basic forms of “output devices” in car amplifiers: bipolar transistors (MOSFET); integrated circuit (IC). The integrated circuit is only found in relatively “low-wattage” car amplifiers, which are called “bridged transformerless” amplifiers. IC’s won’t pass adequate power to work for more “powerful” amplifier and not measured as “discrete output device”.

Mono Car Amplifiers

These are “single” channel amplifiers, suitable for “low-frequency” applications. They are steady to 2-ohms so they can be connected safely to two “4-ohm” woofers.

Mosfet

“Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor” or MOSFET is a form of big output transistor utilized in the “final stages” of a lot of power amplifiers, and are normally found in the majority of today’s car amplifiers. They’re often “discrete devices” utilized with smaller “driver transistors” and other units, for converting small signals into bigger ones. They’re very stable and efficient, in comparison to “bipolar types” that came before them.

Ohm

Among the amplifier features that should be checked out; these are the measurement of system impedance and electrical resistance. It determines the degree to which “electrons” are limited in quantity and velocity when passing through circuits. Impedance measurement takes into consideration the “mechanical resistance” innate in transducers’ motion. For vehicle audio, 4 ohms is the standard.

Parametric

This is a form of equalization which allows center frequency, amplitude, and filter shape of every band to be varied. It provides enormously precise control of the vehicle’s tonal balance.

Preamp Output

This is the initial stage for amplification, where the amplitude of extremely “low-level audio signal” is amplified.

RMS Power

RMS power is also among the main and important amplifier features that provides for clearer sound. The higher the figure for RMS power, the cleaner and louder the music sounds. It is the maximum rating that car amplifiers can provide all throughout the day with no distortion.

Other main amplifier features for car amplifiers include peak power, signal-to-noise-ratio, speaker input, tri-way output, and total harmonic distortion. Among the many amplifier brands and types, check out PC2100 amplifier from Precision Power. The Precision Power PC2100 amplifier is a 2-channel amplifier used to power two high-end component sets or two subwoofers.

Precision Power PC2100 amplifier features include: 18 dB/ Octave X-Over; RCA X-Over Output; 4 ohm 25 Watt x 2 RMS; AP-III Protection Circuitry; Bridged 100 Watt x1 RMS; 2 ohm 50 Watt x 2 RMS; All Power Ratings at 12 Volts; Balanced Differential Output; and Polished Chrome Finish.

Amplifier features for car amplifiers play an important role in the total performance and efficiency of the amplifiers. The better the features of the car amplifier, results to better sound quality output of the device.
